Giving Back to Jackson

At Mississippi Smiles, we have a clearly stated mission. We believe all children deserve access to high quality dental care in a fun and upbeat environment, regardless of their family income.

This mission is weaved throughout our business and guides decision-making daily. This mission is more than a sign on the wall, it’s part of our pledge to step out of our practice and make connections in our community. We bring our mission to life in our community through our Caring4Community program.

Twice annually, our Caring4Community campaign offers nonprofit organizations and schools a chance to win money to support their programs as well as spread awareness of their mission and financial needs.

Our Caring4Community recipients have included Uplifting Arms, Inc, Lanier High School, Van Winkle Early Childhood Center, Beautiful Sisters Strengthening Sisters, For Brown Girls Inc, Spann Elementary School, Bee The Difference Mentoring, and SunRae’s Effect. Since the development of this program in 2022, we’ve donated $18,000 across 4 Caring4Community Campaigns. We’ve been privileged to follow along on the journeys of these winners, like seeing the STEAM Room at Spann Elementary come to fruition due to our donation.

Beyond the Contest

But, this isn’t all. Caring4Community is more than this single campaign.

Caring4Community is the donations we make to schools and family organizations all year long, the families we sponsor over the holidays, the students that benefit from our mobile dentistry program, the toothbrushes and dental hygiene supplies we donate, the volunteerism of our doctors and team, the free and reduced-cost dentistry we provide, and so much more. It’s being a practice that cares for our community while caring for our patients.

Throughout each Caring4Community effort, big or small, our goal is to thread stronger relationships and create positive change in the communities we serve.

Activities: Reading Tutoring Services, Entrepreneurship Programs, Summer Camps, and Financial Literacy Classes
Although there are other nonprofit organizations that focus on helping families, our organization focuses on offering programs that will help equip and empower our families to make lifetime changes.
Awarded $3,500 for their 1st place finish in Caring4Community Fall 2022!

Extraordinary Efforts

Jackson Water Crisis

In 2022, Jackson, MS experienced a water crisis that dramatically limited our water supply. For many residents, there was no access to water at all. As expected, supplies of bottled water were quickly depleting leaving many without water to drink, make baby formula, or bathe and wash dishes. Most affected by this were the most vulnerable members of our community.

Our team responded quickly, traveling around the state to fill 5 truckloads of water to give it away in our parking lots to all who needed it. Whether it’s large efforts like trucking water across a state, or smaller scale efforts like donations of care packages and hygiene items, we’re dedicated to caring for our community while caring for our patients.

Mobile Dentistry

Mississippi Smiles provides preventative dental care to hundreds of students a year through our mobile dentistry program, many without insurance receiving preventative care at no cost. Countless community organizations, summer camps, and early learning centers rely on us to provide resources to their families and teach their children to care for their oral health in a fun way.

Local Partnerships

The Mississippi Department of Child Protective Services has named Mississippi Smiles the preferred dental provider for foster families in Jackson, due to our continued support of our community and involvement in community events.
